Eddie Stephens and Brodie Belt
Stephens Pools and Spas is owned by Eddie Stephens and Brodie Belt. Brodie is Eddie’s (Pop’s) oldest grandson. Pop graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1979 with a degree in chemical engineering and he and his wife Leesa (Granny) and their two children, Mandy and Michael Paul, moved to Magnolia, Arkansas where Eddie took a job at Dow Chemical.
Their youngest child, Cassie was born in 1982. The Dow Bromine Plant was bought by Ethyl Corporation and eventually became Albemarle Corporation. Eddie left Albemarle in 1998 and went into business with his parents , Harvey and Roxy Stephens in De Queen, Ar.
Eddie’s parents had a gristmill in De Queen and made fresh ground cornmeal, fish fry mixes, hush puppy mixes, and cornbread mixes. They also had a small store at their house. Leesa and Eddie opened Stephens Country Store in Magnolia in 2000.
The store was never really meant to be a “pool chemical store”. It was meant to be like an old country store. Eddie and Leesa owned a pool and found out they could buy pool chemicals at wholesale prices. This would save them money and if they could sell some, that would be even better. Friends began calling upon them to help with their pools and with Eddie’s background in industrial water treatment, things started to come together.
Leesa ran the store and took care of all the books and Eddie did all the outside work. He began taking care of a few pools, installing liners, working on pumps and filters, etc, and the business grew. Granny and Pop’s first grandchild (Brodie) was born in January of 2000 to their oldest daughter Mandy and her husband Kevin. They chose to home school Brodie and his two younger sisters. Therefore, Brodie was able to spend a lot of time with Pop. Brodie began working with Pop and learning the pool business at the age of 8 years old.

In June of 2016, Pop had a heat stroke while he and Brodie were installing a pool liner. Brodie had to step up and take over for most of that summer. A few months later, in March of 2017, Pop had a brain stem stroke that, by the grace of God, did not kill him. He was out of commission for several months. Once again, Brodie stepped in and kept the business going and growing. At that point, Granny and Pop made Brodie a partner in the business. In 2019, Stephens Country Store became an “Artesian Spa Dealer”. In September of 2020, Brodie married the love of his life, Anna, and just a few months later tragedy struck the family. It was the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. In December of 2020, Granny contracted the disease and it went straight to her lungs. A month later, in January 2021, Granny left this world to be in paradise with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In September 2022, Brodie and Anna had their first child a daughter named Haddie. In October 2023, they had a son named Stetson. Brodie and his wife Anna are ready to take this business to a new level and a different direction. Stephens Country Store is changing to Stephens Pools and Spas. The main changes will be that our primary emphasis will be on Spa sales, pool equipment sales, in-ground liner replacements, and residential pool services. What will not change is the dedication to excellence, workmanship and customer satisfaction.
With a heart full of family legacy, Brodie and Anna have began this new chapter. Brodie and Anna will continue to honor the traditions of past, ensuring that the legacy of Stephens Country Store and Stephens Pools and Spas will live on for generations to come.
